Deploying to Microsoft Azure SQL databases

With SQL Data Compare, you can compare and deploy Microsoft Azure SQL databases.

Data types not supported

Microsoft Azure SQL databases don't support the following data types:

  • Common Language Runtime (CLR) User-Defined Types
  • Large User-Defined Types (UDTs)

If you try to deploy an unsupported data type to a Microsoft Azure SQL database, the deployment script will fail.

T-SQL and SQL Server feature support

Microsoft Azure SQL Database has further limitations that can cause SQL Data Compare deployments to fail. For example, Microsoft Azure SQL Database doesn't support Data Compression or SQL Server Replication.
