File or assembly name vjslib not found

This page applies to SQL Dependency Tracker version 2.8.2 or earlier. J# is no longer a requirement since 2.8.3.
When using SQL Dependency Tracker, you may encounter the error:
File or assembly name vjslib, or one of its dependencies, was not found.
This generally occurs when the Visual J# Runtime, which is a prerequisite for SQL Dependency Tracker is not installed.
To fix this problem, you can:
- uninstall and re-install SQL Dependency Tracker
- install the Visual J# Runtime
SQL Dependency Tracker supports .NET 1.1 and 2.0. If both versions are installed, SQL Dependency Tracker runs under version 1.1
- If you have .NET version 1.1 installed, even if you also have version 2.0, you should download and install the Visual J# redistributable for .NET 1.1
- If you have only .NET version 2.0 installed, you should download and install the Visual J# redistributable for .NET 2.0
