SQL Data Catalog allows categorization of your SQL data estate. Assigning your SQL Servers to environments facilitates better informed decisions on prioritization of work, access, backup policy, masking sensitive data and more.

On the main overview page, there is a tag icon in the top left of each instance card, which you can click to bring up a list of available tags.

Then select an environment you want to assign the instance to. When you refresh the page, the tag should then appear on the top left of the card.

To remove the tag, simply hit the 'x' on the tag. Only one tag can be assigned per instance, therefore selecting a new tag for an instance will override the assigned tag.
