Backup Size Allocation
Published 09 May 2025
When Redgate Clone restores a data image from a backup, it creates a persistent volume in which data files and transaction logs are placed.
The size of this persistent volume is twice the size of the backup database plus a configurable extra amount, which defaults to 50Gi (Gigabytes). The default should be appropriate for the vast majority of backups.
If the creation of an image from a backup fails due to lack of volume space, it may mean that the backup has a particularly large capacity reserved, in which case increasing the allocation should allow the image to be created.
Note that this setting does not affect images that have already been restored from backup.
