Why do I need to log in?
Published 03 November 2014
When you open DLM Dashboard in your browser, you may see an Authentication required pop-up.
You'll see this if:
- you're using Firefox
- you're not on the machine DLM Dashboard is hosted on
- you browse to DLM Dashboard using the machine path (eg my-server@example.com:19528), rather than localhost
- you've turned off automatic authentication in Chrome or Internet Explorer
Why does DLM Dashboard want me to log in?
DLM Dashboard requires you to log in using a Windows account, to stop people outside your domain seeing the details of your databases.
Some browsers (Chrome and Internet Explorer) log you in automatically by default, but Firefox doesn't.
We're planning to add more sophisticated support for users and permissions at some point in the future. If you want to see this sooner rather than later, add it to our UserVoice forum.
Which account should I use?
Just use your normal Windows username and password.
