SQL Change Automation 4

ReadyRoll licenses and SQL Change Automation

On Monday 18th June 2018, we released a major upgrade to ReadyRoll.  As part of that major upgrade we renamed ReadyRoll to SQL Change Automation.

This page explains the implications of the launch of SQL Change Automation for existing ReadyRoll users.

What's your situation?

I purchased ReadyRoll Pro and had active support and upgrades

ReadyRoll Pro was sold under a perpetual license model with an optional annual support and upgrades package. Whilst minor ReadyRoll Pro upgrades were available to all users, major ReadyRoll Pro upgrades are only available to users with a support and upgrades package that hasn't expired.

If your ReadyRoll Pro support and upgrades package was active on the launch date of SQL Change Automation, then you are entitled to SQL Change Automation.

We also gave a 5-day grace period for users whose support and upgrades package had recently expired.

A new serial key for SQL Change Automation has been emailed to all such customers.

I haven't received the email

It's possible that the email was caught by an intermediary between Redgate and yourself. For instance a reseller of Redgate products, or the purchasing department within your organisation. The email can also have been caught by spam filters. Check places such as these if you suspect the email hasn't been relayed to you.

If you're still unable to find the email, contact support and they'll provide you with a serial key. In the meantime, you can use the free trial of SQL Change Automation so that you aren't blocked from working.

I purchased the SQL Toolbelt and had active support and upgrades

The SQL Toolbelt is sold under a perpetual license model with an optional annual support and upgrades package.  Whilst minor tool upgrades are available to all customers, major tool upgrades are only available to customers with a support and upgrades package that hasn't expired.

If your SQL Toolbelt support and upgrades package was active on the launch date of SQL Change Automation, then you are entitled to SQL Change Automation.

We also gave a 5-day grace period for customers whose support and upgrades package had recently expired.

Your existing SQL Toolbelt serial key will give you access to SQL Change Automation – SQL Change Automation will need to check with our licensing activation server to confirm that you did have an active support and upgrades package.

I purchased ReadyRoll Pro or the SQL Toolbelt but did not have active support and upgrades

You are not entitled to SQL Change Automation, but your perpetual license is still valid for ReadyRoll Pro.

Visual Studio can automatically upgrade your ReadyRoll extension to SQL Change Automation. If this happens you will not be able to use SQL Change Automation; to re-install ReadyRoll:

If your support and upgrades package had expired, and you would like SQL Change Automation, then contact sales to discuss your options.

I was using ReadyRoll Core

ReadyRoll Core has become SQL Change Automation Core, and it has all the features that ReadyRoll Core had.  You don't need a license key, just continue to use Visual Studio Enterprise 2017 as you did before.
