Flyway Insights is in public preview for Flyway Enterprise users. Features may change before general availability. Got an idea or found a problem? Tell us what you think
This page explains where Flyway Insights runs, what information Flyway sends to it, who can see it, and how your data is protected.
Where Flyway Insights is hosted
Flyway Insights is run by Redgate on Amazon Web Services (AWS), in the eu-west-1 (Ireland) region, at https://flyway.red-gate.com.
Subprocessors
Redgate uses a small number of third parties (subprocessors) to run Flyway Insights. See the current list of each subprocessors, their purpose, and location at Subprocessors used by Redgate Environment services.
What data is sent to Flyway Insights
Flyway only sends data if you turn publishing on, which can be set for each Flyway Project.
Flyway never sends any data in your tables or the contents of your migration scripts.
Currently, Flyway sends information about schema differences (DDL SQL) if drift is detected. We'll be adding an option to turn the schema differences off and only send number of objects drifted. Get in touch with the Development team if this is blocking you now and to discuss this more.
| What | When it's sent | What it contains |
|---|---|---|
| Deployment results | When publishResult is on, after each migrate or deploy | Project ID and name; pipeline ID; environment name; database type; database and schema name; time; success or failure. For each script: filename, version, description, type, status, execution time and whether it was rolled back |
| Drift results | When publishResult is on, after every drift check (flyway check -drift, or automatically on migrate if checkDriftOnMigrate is on) | Whether drift was found. For each object that has drifted: its type, schema and name, and its definition (DDL) as expected and as found. Objects that haven't drifted aren't sent |
| Schema snapshots (Deprecated - only for Flyway Pipelines) | Only when checkDriftOnMigrate is on, after each migrate | A snapshot of the target's whole schema (object definitions, not data), stored so Flyway can check for drift before the next migrate. Without checkDriftOnMigrate, snapshots stay in your own database or files |
Each request also includes the Flyway version and the kind of environment Flyway is running in (for example, a CI system).
Who can see your data
- Deployments you publish are visible to you and, if you've shared them, to everyone in your Redgate organization: on the Deployments page and in their DORA metrics and measured ROI. Deployments recorded before you shared stay private.
- Drift report details, and your ROI inputs are only visible to you.
- Redgate manages organization membership through your Redgate account. See Creating a Redgate organization.
How your data is protected
Data is stored in AWS, EU (Ireland) region, in an encrypted managed database
- In transit: all connections use HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or later.
- At rest: the Flyway Insights database, and its backups, are encrypted.
- Sign-in: you sign in with a Redgate ID with a verified email address. Pipelines authenticate with a Personal Access Token or with
flyway auth.
Network requirements
Machines that publish to Flyway Insights need outbound HTTPS (port 443) access to:
flyway.red-gate.comidentityprovider.red-gate.com
Deleting and exporting your data
To remove a pipeline, the Redgate ID owner can select the ⋮ menu on its card and Delete pipeline. If you do not have the ⋮ menu, then you are not logged in with the Redgate ID that ran the Flyway command. You can contact Redgate support for it to be deleted or to ask for a copy of your data.
How we use your data
If you choose to use Flyway Insights, data about your Flyway projects and environments, as described above, is sent to Redgate to provide the service. We do this to fulfil our contract with you.
We may also collect data about how you use Flyway Insights, to improve our products and services. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interests.
Your use of Flyway Insights is in accordance with Schedule 2 of Redgate's Master Subscription EULA.
