When you need to specify a database connection, SQL Change Automation will search your network for all available SQL Server instances. The list of servers is used to pre-populate the 'Server' drop-down box in the connection dialog.

Server discovery is dependent on the SQL Server Browser Service. Therefore, if SQL Change Automation cannot discover servers on your network, it might be because the SQL Server Browser Service isn't configured correctly on your development machine.
