Redgate Test Data Manager is a Test Data Management (TDM) solution that helps customers to spin up test and development environments, and manage test and development data for databases including Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server and My SQL.

What is Test Data Management (TDM)?

Test Data Management is the process, part of Test environment management (TEM), of providing DevOps teams with test data to evaluate the performance and functionality of applications.

This process typically includes copying production data, anonymization or masking, and sometimes virtualization. In some cases, specialized techniques, such as synthetic data generation, are appropriate. Additionally, it applies data masking techniques to protect sensitive data, including PII, PHI, PCI, and other corporate confidential information, from fraud and unauthorized access while preserving contextual meaning.

Provisioning and virtualization 

Redgate Test Data Manager creates a clone of an entire database instance using Redgate Clone, enabling rapid testing and development with small lightweight shallow copies of a database.

Subsetting 

Redgate Test Data Manager creates a representative slice of a database to make it smaller, maintaining referential integrity. Additional customization is available by defining a starting table and adding filter clauses to control the information that is subset.

If you are working with large datasets, you can serve up the perfect slice for your test data with subsetting.
