SQL Dependency Tracker 3

Dealing with missing objects

You may want to see information about objects that are not currently in the diagram. This page covers how to recognize when objects are not in the diagram and how to add them to it.

Stalks indicate that an object references or is referenced by objects that aren't currently in the diagram. To see a list of the objects, move your mouse over the object or find it in the Dependencies pane .

This could be because

  • the objects are hidden (temporarily removed from the diagram)
  • they haven't been added, but other objects from the same database are in the diagram.

These objects are not unresolved objects because they belong to a database that is already in the diagram.

If the objects are hidden

If the objects are hidden, make them visible:

  1. Move your mouse over the object with the stalk or find it in the Dependencies pane.
  2. Look at the list of objects to the see the object names.
  3. In the Objects in Project pane, find the object you want to make visible.
Use the search box if necessary.
  4. Select the checkbox next to the object.

Alternatively, to show all hidden objects, on the toolbar, click   Show Hidden.

If the objects haven't been added

If the objects haven't been added, add them to the project:

  1. Clear the current selection using  None.
  2. Click on the object with the stalk to select it.
  3. Right-click the object.
  4. Select Add to Project > Objects the Selection Uses or Objects the Selection is Used By.
