SQL Prompt 10

End of support for Visual Studio 2015 and 2017

SQL Prompt v10.9 and later no longer supports Visual Studio 2015 and Visual Studio 2017. Versions prior to v10.9 will continue to work in Visual Studio 2015 and Visual Studio 2017.

Please do not upgrade to SQL Prompt v10.9 or later if using Visual Studio 2015 or Visual Studio 2017 as SQL Prompt will no longer work.

More details

SQL Prompt has supported Visual Studio 2015 and Visual Studio 2017 since their release. Over time, we have seen usage of both of these IDEs decline, replaced by either later versions of Visual Studio or SQL Server Management Studio.

Supporting Visual Studio also comes with some technical challenges, which are compounded by each additional version that is supported. As a result, we have decided to discontinue support for the older versions of Visual Studio (2015 and 2017). We will continue to support Visual Studio 2019 and Visual Studio 2022.

If you cannot upgrade to Visual Studio 2019 or Visual Studio 2022, you can continue to use SQL Prompt but will have to remain on a version earlier than v10.9.
