SQL CI 2.1.6.125
Features
- Choose how SQL CI determines compatibility level
By default SQL CI uses the database's compatibility level to detect supported features. If you prefer, you can now get SQL CI to use server information to determine the compatibility level. To do this in the build, test or sync steps, use the/additionalCompareArgs
to exclude the SQL Compare default optionUseCompatibilityLevel
. See Using the command line. New version of SQL Compare engine

Fixes
- SQLCI-270: We've fixed a bug, occurring with some configurations of TeamCity, that was causing the NuGet package to increase in size on every successive build.
- SQLCI-271: The TFS Build plugin was sometimes failing to generate the automated part of NuGet package version number correctly. We've now fixed this. If you're using this plugin with TFS 2015, you should update to the latest version. See Updating the TFS Build plugin.
Add-on versions
- TeamCity plugin 2.0.6.571

Features
- Choose how SQL Release determines compatibility level

SQL CI 2.1.5.85
Features
- Improved performance
We've improved the startup performance of SQL CI and the SQL Compare engine that powers it, allowing SQL CI to build, test, sync and publish databases more quickly. - Improved default behaviour for temporary instance when using Migrations V2 beta
In previous versions of SQL CI, if you were using Migrations V2 beta and specified a temporary instance in the build or test steps by using the/temporaryDatabaseServer
,/temporaryDatabaseName
,/temporaryDatabaseUserName
and/temporaryDatabasePassword
switches, you also needed to specify these switches to SQL Compare using the/additionalCompareArgs
switch. This is no longer necessary. The details of the temporary instance are now automatically passed through to SQL Compare. - New version of SQL Compare engine
We've updated the SQL Compare engine that powers SQL CI. For details of features and fixes, see the SQL Compare 11.3.2 release notes.

SQL CI 2.1.4.61
We've updated the SQL Compare engine that powers SQL CI. For details of features and fixes, see the SQL Compare 11.3.1 release notes.
Add-on versions
- TeamCity plugin 2.0.4.557
- TFS Build plugin 2.0.4.380
- TFS MSBuild scripts 2.1.4.61
Fix
SQLCI-259:
In earlier versions of SQL CI, the build and test steps failed when handling tables containing FILESTREAM columns. This is still true when you use the default settings. This happens because SQL CI makes a copy of your database on a temporary server. By default, it uses LocalDB for this, which doesn't support FILESTREAM.
However, if you specify an alternative temporary server that supports FILESTREAM instead of using LocalDB, the build and test steps will now work correctly.
For more information, see Build and test steps fail when using a FILESTREAM data column.

SQL Release 1.2.4.81
We've updated the SQL Compare engine that powers SQL Release. For details of features and fixes, see the SQL Compare 11.3.0 release notes.
Fix
SQLREL-92:
We've fixed the parsing error where SQL Release was failing to pick up static data in script folders when there was an opening parenthesis directly after the CREATE TABLE statement and on the same line.
However, if you edit the script, you still need to make sure the column definitions for the table are on subsequent lines.
Known issue
SQLREL-94:
The Changes.html report that's created as part of the database deployment resources currently won't open in Chrome. Open it in Internet Explorer or Firefox instead.
DLM Dashboard
Feature
- We've updated DLM Dashboard's user interface to the new Redgate style.
For full details of features and fixes for DLM Dashboard, see DLM Dashboard release notes.
Command line tools for SQL Server
1.3.0.159 - September 2nd, 2015
Features
Simplified installation
We've simplified the DLM Automation Suite installation process. SQL CI and SQL Release are now installed as part of the suite, so you no longer need to run separate installation processes for those tools. For more information, see Installing.Breaking changes
If you're upgrading from the SQL Automation Pack or DLM Automation Suite 1.2 or earlier, the new installation process may cause breaking changes depending on which tools you've installed and where you've installed them. For more information, see Upgrading.
- New environment variable
We've create a new environment variable to make it easier to maintain references to tools. Use %DLMAS_HOME% whenever you need to reference the DLM Automation Suite tool executables. For more information, see Updating references to DLM Automation Suite tools. - New versions of tools
This release also contains new versions of:
Known issue
SQLREL-92:
If you run a silent install of the DLM Automation Suite, changes to the SENDFUR and SENDERRORS parameters won't be recognized. Feature usage and error reports will be sent to Redgate by default.
To work around this, you can change the default settings after installation:
- Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe).
- Find the DLM Automation Suite registry keys.
If you're running a 64-bit machine, they're in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Wow6432Node>Red Gate>DLM Automation Suite
If you're running a 32-bit machine, they're in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE >Red Gate>DLM Automation Suite - Set the enableFeatureUsageReporting and enableErrorReporting registry values to 0.
If you run a silent install to upgrade from an earlier version, we'll keep your previous SENDFUR and SENDERRORS settings.
SQL CI 2.1.4.42
Features
- Simplified installation
SQL CI is now installed as part of the DLM Automation Suite, so you no longer need to run a separate installation process. - New environment variable
To make it easier to maintain references to tools, we've created a new environment variable. To reference the SQL CI executable, use %DLMAS_HOME%\SQLCI\sqlCI.exe - Improved integration with DLM Dashboard
Databases built by SQL CI already show up as recognized schemas in DLM Dashboard. To make this clearer, recognized schemas are now also labelled with the SQL CI icon .
For more information about how SQL CI works with DLM Dashboard, see SQL CI integration (Dashboard documentation).
Add-on versions
- TeamCity plugin 2.0.4.543
- TFS Build plugin 2.0.4.380
- TFS MSBuild scripts 2.1.4.52
SQL Release 1.2.4.66
Feature
Simplified installation
SQL Release is now installed as part of the DLM Automation Suite, so you no longer need to run a separate installation process.
Known issue
We've had one report of SQL Release failing to pick up static data in the target database. You may have this problem if you see primary key violations, and a number of +INSERT statements in the static data section of the Changes.html file.
We're working on a fix. In the meantime, the workaround is to open the creation script, look for the CREATE TABLE statement, and make sure there isn't an opening parenthesis directly after it on the same line. Scripts created using SQL Compare will not contain this formatting error. If you're editing the script, make sure the CREATE TABLE statement looks like this:
Good example
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[LookupAddressType] (
and NOT like this:
Bad example
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[LookupAddressType](
DLM Dashboard
Features
- Databases built by SQL CI already show up as recognized schemas in DLM Dashboard. To make this clearer, recognized schemas are now also labelled with the SQL CI icon .
- Use pipelines to group databases, so you can see schema changes across environments.
Ignore changes to objects you're not interested in by adding filters to your pipeline. Filtered objects won't trigger updates or drift, and aren’t included in email notifications or reported on the Review page.
For full details of features and fixes for DLM Dashboard, see DLM Dashboard release notes.
Command line tools for SQL Server
Features
- New environment variables
We've create a new environment variable to make maintaining references to tools easier. Use %DLMAS_HOME% whenever you need to reference the command line tool executables. - We've also moved the default installation locations for SQL Compare and SQL Data Generator, so you must update existing references to these tools. For more information, see Updating references to DLM Automation Suite tools.
